HIGH SCHOOL DANCES
The Dance Machine Difference
"How To Make Your Home Coming, Prom Or School Dance Amazingly Successful"
Selecting a DJ for your school dance is an important decision that can either make your event a success or turn it into a disaster. The sad fact is that there are people who will buy some equipment and claim that they are a DJ. This is like someone buying a stethoscope and saying that he is a doctor!
Many people ask, “How do I choose a DJ? Aren’t they all the same?” DJs are perceived as a dime a dozen by many event planners.
The fact is that each performer is unique and, like in any other profession, there are DJs who are great, some who are good, some mediocre, and some who should never be allowed to perform!
Here are three simple steps you should take before hiring any DJ for your dance...
Step #1: Ask the prospective DJ if he has the hottest, most up-to date music selection and demand to see a list of his music. Did you know that there are DJs who actually use the same music for weddings as well as proms and school dances? That’s not cool at all. You want a DJ that has a huge selection of cutting edge music. This means that everyone will be dancing and having a good time, not standing around being bored.
Step #2: Ask the DJ for a list of testimonials from some of his other clients. This is vitally important. You want to see what other people have to say about the DJ and his services. When you see the great comments about the DJ from other people, you can feel confident that he’ll do a great job for your school event as well. Do not hire a DJ who refuses to give you testimonial proof.
Step #3: Select the DJ who is right for you, not someone who just has the right price. A big mistake many prom planners make when hiring a DJ is basing their decision totally on price. Of course, price is a factor when hiring an entertainer. However, many event planners place too much emphasis on price and not enough emphasis on the overall impact the DJ will have on their event.
Is the highest priced performer always the best? Maybe not. On the other hand, hiring the least expensive DJ is not always the best way to go either.
You need to base your decision on the performer who will best fulfill your needs and help you to achieve your desired outcomes.
One way you can know whether a DJ is going to meet your needs is by whether or not he asks you what your needs are and what outcomes you want to achieve with your event. When you call them, do they just tell you how great they are without finding out what you want and need?
How would you feel if you went to a doctor because you weren’t feeling well and the doctor instantly prescribed some medicine without first finding out what was wrong with you? It’s the same with DJs. They should find out what you want and need first and see if they have a program that can fulfill those needs.
By following these steps, you will select a DJ who is perfect for your home coming, prom, or school dance.
